Tanzanian authorities issued an alert to residents living along The Mara River in to halt the use of the river’s waters, after fish died in the river – an indicator of pollution. The Mara river is an important transboundary water source shared between Kenya and Tanzania supporting millions of people, and the incident sparked concern among environmentalists in Kenya, who say that as huge custodian of the river, Kenya is failing to regulate pollution along the river.
